The Festival of Trees is a Community Service Project the Des Moines Woodworkers has participated in for several years. Club members make and donate wood Christmas Tree ornaments. A Group of Voluntary Members use the wood ornaments to decorate a Christmas Tree. The tree is publicly displayed for a few days along with trees decorated by many other Groups. The trees are sold at auction to Individuals and Businesses. The auction proceeds are given to Blank Children's Hospital. For 2007, the Decorating Group was lead by Herman and Stephanie Riva.
